The stunning Tavern Retreat is a former public house, situated in a secluded and peaceful area just 15 minutes from Durham boasting superb restaurants, bars and cafes, providing the perfect escape with all the convenience and access you need. With tempting features to boot, including its very own bar and pool room, al fresco seating area for those long summer BBQ’s and comfortable accommodation for up to 22 guests across the Retreat and Little Sleeper, the grounds will be flooded with life during your weekend getaway. Tastefully decorated with a traditional theme, the property offers spacious bedrooms to enjoy, a large dining area and ample space for eating, drinking and being merry. You can opt to venture out into Durham and sample many rural attractions, walks and eateries; or simply allow us to arrange your perfect hen itinerary. 8 Bedrooms

You will be spoilt for choice in the Tavern with six beautifully finished bedrooms to select from. Each bedroom offers all you need, with fresh linen and towels provided. Lending a traditional home from home feel throughout, you will be relaxed and ready to lay your head after a busy day of pampering and enjoyment. All bedrooms in the Tavern Retreat are situated on the first floor: bedroom one offers a king-sized bed with a further guest bed. Bedrooms two and three both provide twin beds, with bedroom two offering an extra guest bed. Bedroom four has a king-sized bed; and bedrooms one to four are all en-suite, with their own shower facilities and WC. Bedroom five has a twin bed with a guest bed, and bedroom six offers a double bed with an additional guest bed. All rooms combined sleep up to 16 guests in total.

In the Little Sleeper there is a double bedroom, a single bedroom and a guest bed in the living area, sleeping up to a further 6 guests if you wish to celebrate with a larger group.

Booking Information

Booking Information:

  • We require a non-refundable 30% deposit via bank transfer or cheque only at the time of booking, and the full balance is to be paid 12 weeks prior to your stay.
  • We require an additional £500 security deposit for this property aside from your required balance, which is refundable 7 days after you vacate the property provided no loss, theft by party members or damage has been caused throughout your stay.
  • Damages exceeding the £500 security deposit will result in pursuement of additional charges via the party leader.
  • Please note: All bookings are subject to a booking fee of £115 which is due at the time of booking and is non refundable.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE 01/03/21

After the latest government announcement we can now advise you of the following:

  • Our holiday lets will be open from the 12th April 2021 – For 1 household groups ( + support bubble only )
  • From the 17th May – The government have stated that 6 individuals or 2 households may be allowed to stay.
  • From the 21st June 2021 – All restrictions on households mixing will hopefully be lifted.

PLACING A NEW BOOKING WITH US.

Due to an high volume of enquiries, it may take us a little longer to get back to you, we kindly thank you for your patience during this time.

NEW BOOKINGS staying between  THE 12TH APRIL 2021  – 17th May  2021.

Anyone who wishes to place a new booking staying from the 12th April 2021 – 21st June 2021 will be booking under our 1 household policy – this means that no refund would be given unless the holiday let had to close by law.

If you book for 1 household and restrictions lift and you wish to invite more guests extra charges may apply, only the guests on the original booking would be allowed to attend, please contact us if you wish to add anyone onto your booking, this would be at the discretion of Celebration Cottages and the owner of the accommodation to allow this and extra charges may apply.

NEW BOOKINGS staying between  THE 17th May 2021  – 21st June 2021.

Anyone who wishes to place a new booking staying between 17th May 2021 – 21st June 2021 should only be booking for 2 households or 6 individual people Max.

A refund would be given less the booking fee if the holiday let had to close by law or the rule of 1 household extended for a longer period if you stay was affected.

If you book and restrictions lift more and you wish to invite more guests extra charges may apply, only the guests on the original booking would be allowed to attend, please contact us if you wish to add anyone onto your booking, this would be at the discretion of Celebration Cottages and the owner of the accommodation to allow this and extra charges may apply.

LARGE GROUP BOOKINGS – FROM 21ST JUNE 2021

We are happy to accept large group bookings with an arrival date from the 21st June 2021 – under our Large Group Policy. Our Large Group Policy fee is £75 and allows you to book for multiple households. Our large group policy will be in place for all new bookings from the 21st June 2021 until all restrictions have legally been lifted.  We will offer a refund ( less the booking fee & group policy fee )  or postponement should the holiday let have to close by law, ( postponements may be subject to a £75-£115 admin fee )  or if there are restrictions in place by law ( not guidance ) on numbers of people or the mixing of households which would affect your stay.

If you had to cancel the booking due to illness, guidance or being contracted by track and trace or you change your mind about your stay – you would not be entitled to a refund and we insist that you take out your own cancelation insurance as we do not provide this.

EXISTING BOOKINGS

For all our guests  with an existing booking in place with us, we have detailed below our plan of action, this is our guidance on how we are dealing with all existing bookings.

Our Customer Care team will be contacting all guests who are due to stay up to the  21st June  2021 to give you options of refunds/postponements if your stay cannot go ahead by law.

Due to the sheer amount of admin and increased costs we may be only able to offer postponements with an amendment fee of £75 for 2021 dates and £115 for 2022 dates.

We have to deal with all bookings in date order and our customer care team will be working around the clock to offer the best customer service possible, however we kindly ask you for your patience and if you could kindly wait until we contact you due to a high volume of emails we are experiencing.

  • All March guests will be contacted before the end of February
  • We hope to contact all April guests before the 20th March
  • We hope to contact all May Guests by the Middle of April
  • We hope to contact all June Guests in May

It is not possible to refund or postpone your booking in advance of these dates unless our customer care team have contacted you. We are working our way through as many emails as possible!
