Experience a quaint setting filled with charm and character from the moment you arrive through the electric gates at Sterling Cottage, with its grade II listed status and pretty thatched roof. As you enter, you will discover exposed beams, low ceilings and doorways, and a cosy log burner to make you feel instantly at home. This is combined seamlessly with modern luxuries and contemporary additions, striking the most elegant balance to suit all tastes. Located in Langport in rural Somerset, this stunning cottage and additional annexe is the perfect venue for a relaxed hen party escape.


Property Information

Sterling Cottage and Annexe provide the perfect portion of indulgence, boasting features from Chesterfield leather sofas and a baby grand piano to a carved wooden four-poster bed and enclosed gardens with a croquet lawn. You can truly kick back and relax with luxuries such as the American style fridge with ice maker in the well-equipped kitchen, where you can top up your tipple before hopping into the private hot tub. The peaceful atmosphere is counteracted conveniently by the bustling town of Langport situated just half a mile away, and you can choose to venture out on country walks with your family and friends and do a spot of birthday shopping, or stay in your cosy retreat and enjoy our creative and tailor-made packages, such as a delicious three course meal prepared and cooked by a private chef, or a choice of calming spa treatments to indulge in, all brought to you.

You can also opt to dine al-fresco together on the terrace on a sunny afternoon which is a warming suntrap during the summer months. Retire as your night draws in, to one of the seven beautifully furnished bedrooms within the cottage and annexe, which of course will provide no less than 400 thread count cotton bed linen for a peaceful and relaxing slumber. Sterling Cottage is just what you and your family need for a retreat to remember.


Hot Tub & Living Spaces

As you walk into the idyllic thatched cottage, you will be greeted by the inviting entrance-hall, with a downstairs WC room. As you saunter through to the well-equipped kitchen you will find all the appliances you need, with a beautiful granite work surface throughout. The door from the kitchen leads to the rear terrace and garden, so let the light and air in while you relax during breakfast. The kitchen also has a pantry to store your goods, and is complete with a washing machine and dryer if you choose to stay for an extended time. Also on the ground floor is a music room with its very own baby grand piano, fantastic for the music enthusiasts, and this also makes for an elegant photo backdrop, for lasting memories you can take away with you.
Follow through to the dining room where you will find a large dining table to seat sixteen to eighteen guests, with a majestic feature fireplace and log burner. In the sitting room, there is a large sofa, great for gathering round for pamper parties with your friends, but mind your heads, the exposed beams in here and in the TV room make for low headroom. The first floor can be accessed from either of these spaces.
In the separate Annexe, there is a large games room with a snooker table, dart board, bar area, and a WC with access to the croquet and badminton lawn to take your celebration (and competition!) outside if you wish. The private hot tub is also located outside the cottage, a cosy bubbling sanctuary on a cool evening.


7 Bedrooms

On the ground floor Bedroom 1 boasts an Emperor-sized double bed sleeping two guests, and has an en-suite shower room with WC, so you can curl straight up after a hot shower and relax. The bed in this room can be made into two singles if you wish. On the first floor, Bedroom 2 has a standard double bed sleeping two guests. Bedroom 3 sleeps up to four guests in both a zip link double bed which can be separated into singles, and a sofa bed accommodating two. Bedroom 4 is extra special, with a King-sized wooden carved four poster bed, which adds charm and character to the cottage, sleeping two. There is a bathroom for the use of bedrooms 2, 3 and 4, with a wet room, shower and WC. Bedroom 4 is linked to Bedroom 5 by a low and narrow door, and as you lead through you will discover an Emperor-sized bed sleeping two guests, and a private bathroom for the exclusive use of Bedroom 5, with a beautiful roll-top bath, WC and separate shower.

Within the Annexe on the first floor, Bedroom 6 has a King-sized double zip-link bed, which can be separated into two singles. Bedroom 7 boasts a super King-sized double zip-link bed, which can again be separated if your group wishes. This bedroom has an additional sofa bed which sleeps a further two guests. A bathroom is situated within the Annexe providing shower-mixer taps, a bath and WC.

  • Turning parking available on the driveway, please note the twin garages are not for clients use.

Booking Information

Booking Information:

  • We require a non-refundable 30% deposit via bank transfer or cheque only at the time of booking, and the full balance is to be paid 12 weeks prior to your stay.
  • Sorry we do not accept credit cards.
  • We require an additional £500 security deposit for this property aside from your required balance, which is refundable 7 days after you vacate the property provided that there are no damages and house rules are kept to. For further info please see Booking Terms & Conditions
  • Please note: All bookings are subject to a booking fee of £115 which is due at the time of booking and is non refundable.


After the latest government announcement:


Bookings up until the 19th July should be for 2 households of any numbers of people, or 6 individuals.

It is your responsibility to know if you can attend or need to cancel your booking.

Refunds/postponements would be offered for any cancellations.

We do not know how many households your group consists of, this is impossible to manage as an agent, therefore it is your responsibility to  let us know if you need to cancel or you can proceed with your booking. Our customer care team will contact all guests in this period no later than the 16th June to inform you of the government announcement and ask if you can  proceed with your booking or if you need to cancel. If you wish to cancel your booking we must receive notification of this by no later than the 20/06/21, in order for us to have time to re sell the dates, cancellations after this time may not be refunded. ( Refunds may take up to 30 days due to the volume of admin this announcement has caused, however we will try our best to action any refunds as quickly as possible).

If you wish to proceed with your booking, you will be proceeding based on 2 households and 2 support bubbles of any number of people, or 6 individual households. It is your responsibility to make sure you are aware and follow the current advice and rules – which can be found here –

If you have booked the Cheshire Barn Retreat, The Woodbury Manor House, or the Woodcroft Estate – these properties can be split into 2 separate accommodation parts, therefore you can have 4 Households + 4 support bubbles or 12 individual households separated into 2 parts of accommodation in line with the current rules.

Anyone who wishes to place a new booking staying between 14th June – 19th July should only be booking for 2 households of any numbers of people or 6 individual households people Max.

If you book and restrictions lift more and you wish to invite more guests extra charges may apply, only the guests on the original booking would be allowed to attend, please contact us if you wish to add anyone onto your booking, this would be at the discretion of Celebration Cottages and the owner of the accommodation to allow this and extra charges may apply.

If you allow any additional guests to the property, who are not on the original booking form, you will be in breach of your contract and the booking will be terminated instantly and you will all be asked to leave with immediate effect. No refund would be given and you may lose your security deposit.


We are happy to accept large group bookings with an arrival date from the 19th July 2021 – under our Large Group Policy. Our Large Group Policy fee is £75 and allows you to book for multiple households. Our large group policy will be now be in place for all new bookings from the 19th July 2021 until further notice. Our large group policy fee is not insurance and does not cover you in the event you have to cancel your booking, we insist you take out your own travel insurance for this.

We will offer a refund ( less the booking fee & group policy fee or any other amendment fee already charged ) or postponement should the holiday let have to close by law, ( postponements may be subject to a £75 postponement fee for any dates in 2021 or £115 for any dates in 2021 to cover additional admin )

We will also offer a refund ( less the booking fee and group policy fee or any other amendment fee ) or postponement, ( postponements may be subject to a £75-£115 admin fee ) should restrictions be in place by law ( not guidance ) preventing the mixing of households which would affect your stay

If you had to cancel the booking due to illness, guidance or being contacted by track and trace or you change your mind about your stay – you would not be entitled to a refund and we insist that you take out your own cancelation insurance as we do not provide this.

If you do not pay your balance on time, no refund of the deposit would be made, if you think your stay is unlikely to go ahead, you must still continue with your booking by paying your balance until we contact you to inform you that your stay can no longer go ahead, if you cancel your booking prematurely then you would not be entitled to a refund of your deposit or any monies paid to us.



Our Customer Care team will be contacting all guests who are due to stay up to the 19th July 2021 to give you options of refunds/postponements if your stay cannot go ahead by law.

Due to the sheer amount of admin and increased costs we may be only able to offer postponements with an amendment fee of £75 for 2021 dates and £115 for 2022 dates.

Arrival 3pm Depart 10am

If you would like to arrange an earlier check in or late checkout, we can only organise this for you a few days before arrival as it is subject to same day changeovers and may not be possible if we have guests departing or arriving that same day.

Collecting the Keys & Final Arrangements

After the full balance has been paid – we will email you over all final arrangements.


If you have booked Activities, our package coordinator will be in touch with you to arrange the times and send you any menus/ spa choices etc, only once the final balance has been paid and numbers are confirmed.

Please note No 3rd party suppliers are permitted at this property unless booked through Celebration Cottages.

Hot Tub

Please note – Any ladies who are pregnant we recommend that you do not use the hot tub.

Please do not use the hot tub if you have fake tan on.

We recommend that a maximum of 15 – 20 mins is spent in the hot tub at any one time, any longer can result in heat rashes or a reaction to the chemicals used in the hot tub.

Hot tub times 10am – 10pm

Please note there will be someone arriving to check the water in the hot tub early in the mornings, but they will try not disturb you.


Please note – At Certain properties there will be a security person who will lock up the hot tub at 10pm.
