The stunning Tavern Retreat is a former public house, situated in a secluded and peaceful area just 15 minutes from Durham boasting superb restaurants, bars and cafes, providing the perfect escape with all the convenience and access you need. With tempting features to boot, including its very own bar and pool room, al fresco seating area for those long summer BBQ’s and comfortable accommodation for up to 22 guests across the Retreat and Little Sleeper, the grounds will be flooded with life during your weekend getaway. Tastefully decorated with a traditional theme, the property offers spacious bedrooms to enjoy, a large dining area and ample space for eating, drinking and being merry. You can opt to venture out into Durham and sample many rural attractions, walks and eateries; or simply allow us to arrange your perfect party itinerary. 8 Bedrooms

You will be spoilt for choice in the Tavern with six beautifully finished bedrooms to select from. Each bedroom offers all you need, with fresh linen and towels provided. Lending a traditional home from home feel throughout, you will be relaxed and ready to lay your head after a busy day of fun and enjoyment. All bedrooms in the Tavern Retreat are situated on the first floor: bedroom one offers a king-sized bed with a further guest bed. Bedrooms two and three both provide twin beds, with bedroom two offering an extra guest bed. Bedroom four has a king-sized bed; and bedrooms one to four are all en-suite, with their own shower facilities and WC. Bedroom five has a twin bed with a guest bed, and bedroom six offers a double bed with an additional guest bed. All rooms combined sleep up to 16 guests in total.

In the Little Sleeper there is a double bedroom, a single bedroom and a guest bed in the living area, sleeping up to a further 6 guests if you wish to celebrate with a larger group.

Booking Information

Booking Information:

  • We require a non-refundable 30% deposit via bank transfer or cheque only at the time of booking, and the full balance is to be paid 12 weeks prior to your stay.
  • We require an additional £500 security deposit for this property aside from your required balance, which is refundable 7 days after you vacate the property provided no loss, theft by party members or damage has been caused throughout your stay.
  • Damages exceeding the £500 security deposit will result in pursuement of additional charges via the party leader.
  • Please note: All bookings are subject to a booking fee of £115 which is due at the time of booking and is non-refundable.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE 15/06/21

After the latest government announcement:

RESTRICTIONS DO NOT LIFT UNTIL THE 19TH JULY:

Bookings up until the 19th July should be for 2 households of any numbers of people, or 6 individuals.

It is your responsibility to know if you can attend or need to cancel your booking.

Refunds/postponements would be offered for any cancellations.

We do not know how many households your group consists of, this is impossible to manage as an agent, therefore it is your responsibility to  let us know if you need to cancel or you can proceed with your booking. Our customer care team will contact all guests in this period no later than the 16th June to inform you of the government announcement and ask if you can  proceed with your booking or if you need to cancel. If you wish to cancel your booking we must receive notification of this by no later than the 20/06/21, in order for us to have time to re sell the dates, cancellations after this time may not be refunded. ( Refunds may take up to 30 days due to the volume of admin this announcement has caused, however we will try our best to action any refunds as quickly as possible).

If you wish to proceed with your booking, you will be proceeding based on 2 households and 2 support bubbles of any number of people, or 6 individual households. It is your responsibility to make sure you are aware and follow the current advice and rules – which can be found here – https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

If you have booked the Cheshire Barn Retreat, The Woodbury Manor House, or the Woodcroft Estate – these properties can be split into 2 separate accommodation parts, therefore you can have 4 Households + 4 support bubbles or 12 individual households separated into 2 parts of accommodation in line with the current rules.

NEW BOOKINGS STAYING BETWEEN THE 14TH JUNE – 19TH JULY 2021.

Anyone who wishes to place a new booking staying between 14th June – 19th July should only be booking for 2 households of any numbers of people or 6 individual households people Max.

If you book and restrictions lift more and you wish to invite more guests extra charges may apply, only the guests on the original booking would be allowed to attend, please contact us if you wish to add anyone onto your booking, this would be at the discretion of Celebration Cottages and the owner of the accommodation to allow this and extra charges may apply.

If you allow any additional guests to the property, who are not on the original booking form, you will be in breach of your contract and the booking will be terminated instantly and you will all be asked to leave with immediate effect. No refund would be given and you may lose your security deposit.

NEW BOOKINGS – LARGE GROUP BOOKINGS – FROM 19th July 2021

We are happy to accept large group bookings with an arrival date from the 19th July 2021 – under our Large Group Policy. Our Large Group Policy fee is £75 and allows you to book for multiple households. Our large group policy will be now be in place for all new bookings from the 19th July 2021 until further notice. Our large group policy fee is not insurance and does not cover you in the event you have to cancel your booking, we insist you take out your own travel insurance for this.

We will offer a refund ( less the booking fee & group policy fee or any other amendment fee already charged ) or postponement should the holiday let have to close by law, ( postponements may be subject to a £75 postponement fee for any dates in 2021 or £115 for any dates in 2021 to cover additional admin )

We will also offer a refund ( less the booking fee and group policy fee or any other amendment fee ) or postponement, ( postponements may be subject to a £75-£115 admin fee ) should restrictions be in place by law ( not guidance ) preventing the mixing of households which would affect your stay

If you had to cancel the booking due to illness, guidance or being contacted by track and trace or you change your mind about your stay – you would not be entitled to a refund and we insist that you take out your own cancelation insurance as we do not provide this.

If you do not pay your balance on time, no refund of the deposit would be made, if you think your stay is unlikely to go ahead, you must still continue with your booking by paying your balance until we contact you to inform you that your stay can no longer go ahead, if you cancel your booking prematurely then you would not be entitled to a refund of your deposit or any monies paid to us.

 

EXISTING BOOKINGS

Our Customer Care team will be contacting all guests who are due to stay up to the 19th July 2021 to give you options of refunds/postponements if your stay cannot go ahead by law.

Due to the sheer amount of admin and increased costs we may be only able to offer postponements with an amendment fee of £75 for 2021 dates and £115 for 2022 dates.
